Priority Equipment Needs
Government funding alone can’t meet the hospital’s equipment needs. But with the help of friends like you, we can purchase essential equipment and continue to give you and your loved ones access to the highest quality healthcare services – right here in your community.
Each year, the OTMH Medical Services Advisory Committee (MSAC) identifies new and/or replacement equipment so that our community can have access to the best healthcare services possible. Our annual equipment list includes vital medical equipment we need to buy. It covers every department. And it affects the lives of the patients we proudly serve, because up-to-date equipment is essential to offering excellent patient care.
The vital equipment on this year’s priority list includes:
Anesthetic Gas Machine
$133,687
This vital piece of equipment delivers an accurate and continuous supply of medical gases to surgery patients. OTMH needs to replace the current machine.
Ophthalmology laser
$151,831
Laser technology is an integral part of caring for the patients requiring retinal surgery
IV Venous Access Machine
$43,817
This machine will improve accuracy and viability of intravenous sitting and improve patient comfort and safety. It will reduce the number of unsuccessful attempts and reduce opportunity for infection and enable more expedient delivery of intravenous medication. This machine will be used by all inpatient units in the Medical Program and will be used multiple times per day.
Multi-Headed Teaching Microscope
$40,760
Sometimes getting a second
opinion saves a life. This
microscope allows eight
pathologists or medical students
to examine the same slide at the
same time. It helps our patients
by speeding up the time it takes
our doctors, interns and resident
physicians to render a diagnosis,
and helps to make that diagnosis
more accurate. Our patients will
get treated much faster, and
will begin healing much sooner.
MRI CAD Software Program
$61, 140
The key to surviving breast
cancer is early detection.
This software will help our
radiologists display images
from our MRI machine at
any angle, so they’ll discover
suspicious areas of tumors
or abnormal breast tissue
much sooner.
The state-of-the-art graphics
will also help our surgeons
with radiation treatment.
Bone Mineral Density Machine
$117,185
This machine uses advanced
x-ray technology to measure
bone loss. We’ll use it to detect
osteoporosis, as well as track
the effects of treatment for
osteoporosis and other conditions
that cause bone loss and increase
the risk for developing fractures.
With osteoporosis, there are no
symptoms in the early stages.
This machine makes early
detection and treatment possible.
