Priority Equipment Needs

Government funding alone can’t meet the hospital’s equipment needs. But with the help of friends like you, we can purchase essential equipment and continue to give you and your loved ones access to the highest quality healthcare services – right here in your community.

Each year, the OTMH Medical Services Advisory Committee (MSAC) identifies new and/or replacement equipment so that our community can have access to the best healthcare services possible. Our annual equipment list includes vital medical equipment we need to buy. It covers every department. And it affects the lives of the patients we proudly serve, because up-to-date equipment is essential to offering excellent patient care.

The vital equipment on this year’s priority list includes:

Cardiac Monitor

$24,131

Our maternal child department needs a cardiac monitor for patients experiencing respiratory problems which can cause the heart to be under a great level of strain. With this monitor, heart and respiratory rates can be monitored outside of patient range.

Ventilator

$84,546

Our cardio respiratory department needs two new ventilators. These life saving pieces of equipment are designed to move breathable air into and out of lungs for patients who are unable to breathe or breathing insufficiently.

ECG Machine

$19,373

Our pre-admit clinic in the surgery department needs a new ECG machine to measure the electrical activity of a patient’s heart over a period of time. The benefit of having an ECG machine in the clinic is that the patient is able to get their testing done right away rather than having wait or go to another department. Approximately 200+ patients require an ECG pre-operatively a month to ensure there are no problems with their heart prior to surgery.

Infant Resuscitation Warmer

$59,651

Our birthing suite requires a new infant resuscitation warmer for newborns requiring immediate care. The machine offers everything a caregiver needs to quickly and safely deliver neonatal resuscitation therapy to high-risk newborns.
