Board of Directors
The Board of Directors is responsible for the management of the business and affairs of the Oakville Hospital Foundation and has ultimate authority for the administration of the Foundation.
Members act as ambassadors for the Foundation, while keeping the best interests of the community in mind.
The 2010 – 2011 Board of Directors is comprised of the following members:

MICHELE BAILEY
As an entrepreneur, mentor and advocate for women in business, Michele Bailey – CEO and founder of Blazing Design Inc. – strives to ignite the success not only of her own business but also the business and personal success of her clients and peers. With a wide range of service offerings including social media, websites, promotions, brand identification and strategic consultation as well as a variety of client types that include not-for-profit, government, consumer and B2B, Blazing provides best-in-class service to clients in myriad industries and markets in both the US and Canada. Michele believes in giving back to her local community and gives her time and pro bono services to numerous business and community organizations and associations. Michele was elected to the Board of Directors for the Oakville Hospital Foundation in 2009.
GARY COOK
Gary Cook is Managing Director of Integra Capital Financial Corporation and has held that position since it was established in 1993. Prior to joining Integra, and along with a group of associates, Mr. Cook acquired and managed companies in the service, communication and manufacturing fields.
He was first a resident of Oakville in 1974. He has been involved with community and charitable organizations and is presently on the board of the Oakville Hospital Foundation.
STEVE DIAMOND
Steve was born (at OTMH) and raised in Oakville and is currently a Realtor with Prudential Town Centre Realty in Oakville.
Over the years he has enjoyed progressive sales roles in the consumer and financial services sectors.
He previously served on the Board of Directors of the Fred Victor Woman’s Shelter in Toronto and has been associated with the Oakville Hospital Foundation since 2004 serving on various Committees and as Chair, OTMH Classic. He has been on the Board of Directors since 2005.
LOREN FRANCIS
Loren is a Chartered Accountant and holds an MBA from the University of Toronto. Loren has over 18 years experience in the investment management and investment banking business. She currently works for Barometer Capital Management as Portfolio Manager and Vice President, Private Client Group.
Loren has a long history of charitable involvement with organizations such as Sheena’s Place, The CIBC World Markets Children’s Miracle, The Stratford Express Gala Committee and the Innovator’s Ball Committee for the Ontario Science Centre. Loren has been involved with the Oakville Hospital Foundation since 2006 and was elected to the Board of Directors in 2008.
Loren resides in Oakville, Ontario and is married with three children.
PIERRE G. GAGNON
Pierre G Gagnon is the President of Chancery Investments Inc. as well as a director of a number of publicly listed and private companies. His philanthropic interests include the CNIB Lake Joe Camp, Oakville Galleries and more recently the Oakville Hospital Foundation.
Pierre was elected to the Board of Directors in 2009 and is Chair of the biennial Wine Auction.
BRUCE GALLOWAY
Bruce joined the Royal Bank in 1968 where he spent his entire career before retiring in 1999 as Vice-Chairman. In this role, along with six others, he was responsible for the strategic direction of the Royal Bank Financial Group. Bruce is presently involved as both an investor and advisor with numerous emerging enterprises and serves as a board member with various educational and charitable organizations. He has served the Oakville Hospital Foundation board since 2008.
CHRISTIE HENDERSON
Christie Henderson, CA, TEP, CFP is Managing Partner of Henderson Partners, LLP a leading firm of chartered accountants and professional advisors in Oakville serving entrepreneurial people and organizations in the GTA.
Christie and the firm are committed to community building. Christie was recently elected to the 2010-2011 governing Council of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario and is a new board member of the Oakville Hospital Foundation. Christie served for many years on the Board of Governors of St. Mildred's Lightbourn School and the Board of the United Way of Oakville on the governance, finance and audit committees.
Christie is author of the national best seller Taxes for Canadians for Dummies published by Wiley & Sons and is a respected media expert on tax and personal finance to CBC, The Globe and Mail, Global TV and others. Christie was the recipient of the 2009 Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario's Award of Distinction for her contributions to community and the CA profession.
Christie lives in Oakville with her husband Kirk and three boys, Charlie, Finlay and Duncan.
TANYA LEEDALE
Tanya is a lawyer and partner at O’Connor MacLeod Hanna LLP, Halton’s largest law firm with its office located in Oakville. Tanya is a Law Society certified specialist in corporate and commercial law and in her practice oversees a diverse client base encompassing small entrepreneurial business ventures to large institutional enterprises.
Tanya has had an active interest in business and charitable community organizations having served in the past as a member of the Board and Executive Committee of each of the Oakville Family YMCA, Oakville Chamber of Commerce and Sheridan College.
FRANK LOCHAN
Frank is a long standing Oakville resident and the former Managing Partner of Brascan Financial Corporation. Frank is a deeply committed supporter of the hospital and has been actively involved in the Foundation board since 2004.
Frank is currently the chair for the Oakville Hospital Foundation Board of Directors and a member of the Volunteer Leadership Team for the new Oakville Hospital capital campaign.
STEPHEN MITCHELL
Stephen was appointed a Senior Vice President of Burgundy in June 2001 and currently is Portfolio Manager for U.S. Large Cap and Global (outside of Canada) mandates.
Stephen began his investment career in 1988 with CIBC, where he held various management positions in the Investment Operations department, including Manager Global Operations. He joined Burgundy in 1993 as an Investment Analyst focusing on U.S. and European equities. In 2000, Stephen was the founding portfolio manager for European equities, and in 2005, added responsibility for EAFE (companies outside of the United States). In 2006, Stephen became the portfolio manager for the American Equity Fund (US large capitalization companies), and in addition, has responsibility for a Global mandate outside of Canada since 2008.
Stephen has been involved with the Oakville Hospital Foundation since 1994 and was elected to the Board of Directors in 2006.
RICHARD NUNN
Richard is the partner-in-charge of the Toronto Audit and Assurance Practice at Deloitte & Touche in Canada. He has over twenty years of experience in the auditing profession with a specialization in the financial services industry. Richard is a Lieutenant-Governor-in-Council appointee to the Governing Council of the University of Toronto and Chair of its Business Board.
Richard and his family moved to Oakville in 1998. He serves as Chair, Finance Committee and has been a Board member since 2009.
JOHN PIPER
John began his career with McDonald’s over 31 years ago behind the counter as a crew person in London, Ontario while attending school. After working through all levels of restaurant management, he held a number of mid and senior management positions in the Canadian operation, including Director of Franchising and McCafe Operational Manager. In 2003 John left McDonald’s to purchase and operate three McDonald’s locations in Oakville.
John’s first involvement with OTMH was the OTMH Charity Golf Tournament in 2006. Since that time he has stepped up his involvement to also include the OTMH Classic Run, the BMO Nesbitt Burns Regatta, Movies in the Park, the OTMH Candlelight Ball, and the OTMH Grand Getaway.
JOHN R. PLATT
John is currently the Chief Operating Officer of the HighView Financial Group a specialized professional practice firm that designs, implements & operates asset management solutions for Advisors, Families and Institutions.
John is currently a board member of Appleby College and the Canadian Foundation for Economic Education (CFEE). He is a Trustee of Appleby College’s Foundation and the Treasurer of Knox Heritage Place, a not for profit seniors home in North Oakville. He is also actively involved with Oakville’s Community Foundation.
He lives in Oakville with his wife and two teenage children and was elected to the Board of Directors of the Oakville Hospital Foundation in 2009.
TIM PORTER
Tim Porter is the Vice-President of Membership for Foresters, a privately held Fraternal Benefits and Life Insurance provider in Canada, the United States and the United Kingdom. At Foresters, Tim is responsible for the development, marketing and delivery of Foresters value-added benefits to its members. Prior to joining Foresters, Tim worked in the political field in the campaigns and offices of John Baird and Jim Flaherty.
EVE WILLIS
Eve and her husband Peter have been actively engaged with the Oakville Hospital Foundation since 2000. Eve was elected to the Board of Directors in 2008 and is also Campaign Co-Chair of the New Oakville Hospital Project. Other philanthropic community interests include Appleby College, United Way Oakville, and Wellspring Halton Peel.
