(OAKVILLE) May 10 2017: The Oakville Hospital Foundation is delighted to announce a $1 million gift from the Warren Y. Soper Charitable Trust that will help fund the Hospital’s equipment needs.

The Soper family have strong philanthropic roots in our community. Patriarch Warren Soper held a deep-seated belief in giving back. He created a charitable trust while living in Oakville in his final years, and his daughter Jane Soper Kennedy initiated this gift to the Oakville Hospital Foundation.  Jane worked as an occupational therapist at OTMH, while her late brother Dr. Warren Soper III was a pharmaceutical researcher. The Soper values live on through his grandchildren Meghan, Lesley and Stephanie Kennedy and many great-grandchildren.

"Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital is very important to me and my family. Accordingly, it is also important that I give back and assist in the evolution of this great healthcare facility," said Jane Soper.
In recognition of this extraordinary gift, the Ambulatory Procedures Unit at the new Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital has been named in honour of the Warren Y. Soper Charitable Trust. An innovative centre within the Surgical Department, the Ambulatory Procedures Unit will provide preparation, recovery, observation and procedures conducted under local anaesthetic, neuroleptic or conscious sedation for the following specialties: Endoscopy (Gastro-Intestinal), Ophthamology, Urology, Cystoscopy (Bladder) and Pain Clinic.

“We are grateful to Jane and the Soper family for this remarkable pledge” said Tina Triano, CEO of the Oakville Hospital Foundation. “By embracing OTMH from both a personal and a financial level, Jane has shown a level of leadership that she hopes will serve to inspire others in the community who feel a kinship to OTMH and our caregivers.”
